Data processing and provision
Big Data has reached the energy sector: policy making and investment decisions rely increasingly on large-scale statistical and numerical models. These models are data-intensive. Much data is available, but it is often hard to find, poorly documented, and tedious to process.
Neon is a specialist in big data in energy. We use state-of-the-art tools to download, process, aggregate, and clean energy-system data. In particular, we use weather data from re-analysis tools to create time series of wind and solar power generation. We supply data to clients and support them in data processing. We have supplied data to private sector clients such as Vattenfall and LEAG. In the Open Power System Data project, Neon leads a consortium that constructs an online platform for power system modelers on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy..
